People keep asking me how to make TikTok work. Took me a while to figure it out—bounced off a ton of walls. Profile optimization that went nowhere, DMs that never got replies, new accounts dead before I even posted anything. Been there.

Finally landed on a system that actually works. Four parts. Straight to the point.

1. Profile Optimization – Don’t Make It Look Like a Spam Account

a) Steal from competitors

Stop guessing. Find accounts in your niche that are doing well. Look at how they set up their username, profile pic, bio. Take what works and use it.

b) Avoid the obvious traps

  • Keep your username clean. Include your niche keyword.

  • Use a clear, high-quality profile picture.

  • Never, ever put a QR code in your bio. TikTok flags that as spam instantly.

  • In your bio, say what you do. Add a subtle call to action.

c) Don’t delete low-view videos

I used to delete anything under a few hundred views. Big mistake. Those videos still reach the right people. Leave them up. Use niche-specific hashtags. Let them build momentum. Every video adds weight to your account.

2. DMs – Don’t Cold Message, Build Familiarity

a) Two types of DMs, one works

  • Direct pitch: Open rate under 10%. Goes straight to ignored.

  • Engagement-based: Like and comment first, then DM. Open rate over 80%. This is the move.

b) How to make them remember you

Don’t spam “nice video.” Write something real. Comment on their content like a human. Let them recognize your name. Then when you DM, it doesn’t feel random.

c) Scale without losing quality

Use tools to pull followers of competitor accounts. Filter for active users. Automate the engagement and follow-up. Keeps it personal while hitting scale.

3. Comments – Free Exposure, Don’t Waste It

a) Mix up your comments

Posting the same comment over and over gets you flagged. Build a library of 50–100 natural, varied comments. Rotate them.

b) Product links vs website links

  • Product link (TikTok Shop): Click to buy. Short loop.

  • Website link: Send them to your store or funnel.

Both work. Match the link to the content.

c) Stay out of trouble

TikTok’s moderation is aggressive. Space out your comments. Check for banned words before posting. If you run multiple accounts, keep IPs and devices separate.

4. Account Setup & Management – Warm Up Before You Post

a) New accounts need a warm-up

Posting immediately gets you throttled. Spend the first few days acting like a normal user. Watch videos. Like. Comment. Follow. Let the algorithm see you as human.

b) Organize your accounts

Once you have more than a couple, things get messy. Group them by market, stage, or type. Makes it easier to post, track, and reset when needed.

c) Posting and registration basics

  • Posting: Schedule during peak hours. Spread them out. Don’t dump everything at once.

  • Registration: Use Google sign-in if possible. After registering, spend a few days just browsing before you post anything.

d) Batch your video editing

Editing one by one eats your life. Drop your clips into a tool, set a template, render in bulk. The time you save adds up fast.

Final Thoughts

TikTok isn’t complicated. Figure out the rules. Set up a flow. Then just stay consistent.

Whether you’re just starting or running a dozen accounts, get these four parts right and traffic will come.
